Mediation Services

What is Mediation Counselling / Therapy : Mediation therapy differs from traditional counselling in that its primary focus is on resolving current conflicts and improving communication between parties, rather than delving into deep-rooted emotional issues or personal healing. While traditional counselling often explores past experiences and individual growth, mediation therapy is solution-oriented, helping individuals or groups reach mutual agreements and find common ground in a structured, neutral environment. It focuses on improving communication, understanding different perspectives, and facilitating collaborative problem-solving.

Best for: Couples, business owners, workplace conflicts, families

Therapists

Tonya Beattie

  • In mediation therapy, we act as a neutral third-party therapist, guiding both sides to express their concerns and feelings without judgment.

The goal is to help all parties involved reach an agreement that works for everyone, while promoting respect and empathy.

This process is often used to resolve interpersonal issues, improve relationships, and prevent escalation of conflicts, whether in personal or professional settings.

Instead of focusing on winning or losing, the focus is on finding common ground and fostering healthier, more constructive interactions.

In Person Counselling

In-person counselling provides a comfortable and confidential setting where you can connect with your therapist face-to-face, offering an engaging and reflective experience. Your therapist is there to listen actively and offer empathy, making it easier to express yourself fully. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or personal growth, our in-person sessions allow you to express yourself freely in a welcoming environment.

  •     What to Expect:

    • A beverage and snack station in our waiting room that you can help yourself to.
    • A comfortable and cozy atmosphere, including homey decor, soft cushions, and blankets.
    • An inclusive space, including weight-inclusive seating and fidgets available to use in every counselling room.

        Benefits:

    • Confidential and private space to share with your counsellor, where you don’t have to worry about being overheard or interrupted.
    • Easier communication, including non-verbal cues like facial expressions and body language.
    • A way to take a break from your living space and get some fresh air on the way.
    • At any time – even same-day – you can switch from an in-person to a video or phone session, just ask your counsellor. Things like weather, illness, or life in general, can happen, and virtual might become a better option for you.

Virtual Counselling

Virtual therapy offers the flexibility to receive professional counselling from the comfort of your home, office, or wherever you feel most comfortable. Conducted via secure video calls, virtual therapy brings the same high-quality support as in-person sessions, with the added convenience of remote access.

  •

What to Expect for Video Sessions:

    • A link to join the video call will be sent 30 minutes before your appointment start time; you can also find this link by signing into your online account with us. Your counsellor will admit you once they’ve joined the video session as well.

    • Video sessions are held on a secure platform (Jane) that is fully compliant with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada; all data is stored in Canada.

    • All video and audio communication is encrypted with the same level of security that banks use to transfer information.

        Benefits:

    • Can access counselling from the comfort of your own home or other private space, without needing to worry about transportation, weather, or physical accessibility.

    • Great for busy schedules, as you don’t need to worry about travel time.

    • Might feel easier to share and talk with your counsellor via video or phone if meeting in-person or by video feels too challenging.

    • You can access counselling from anywhere in Ontario where you have a stable-enough internet connection, cell reception, or a landline.

    • Can have your own supports available, like a pet or favourite blanket or fidget (though these latter things are welcome during in-person sessions too!).

Phone Counselling

Our phone counselling sessions offer a flexible and confidential way to connect with your therapist from the comfort of your own space. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or just need someone to talk to, phone therapy provides the support you need without the hassle of travel or technology barriers.

  •     What to Expect for Phone Sessions:

    • With scheduled sessions, you’ll receive the same level of care and attention as in-person therapy—just over the phone. This option is ideal for individuals who prefer voice conversations, have limited internet access, or feel more comfortable without video.

    • Your counsellor will call you at the appointment start time; note that they might call from a private number.

        Benefits of Phone Counselling:
    • Convenient and accessible from anywhere
    • Private and discreet
    • Ideal for those with limited mobility or busy schedules
    • No need for internet or video setup

Hybrid Therapy

Hybrid therapy is a flexible approach that combines both in-person and online sessions, offering you the best of both worlds. Whether you're unable to attend sessions in person due to distance, schedule conflicts, or other reasons, hybrid therapy allows you to engage in therapy remotely when needed, while still having the option to meet face-to-face when possible. This approach ensures that you can receive consistent support in a way that fits your lifestyle and needs, allowing us to continue making progress together, regardless of the format.

  •

Hybrid therapy offers several benefits, making it an appealing option for many clients. Here are some key advantages:

        Flexibility and Convenience:

    • Hybrid therapy allows clients to choose between in-person and virtual sessions depending on their schedule, location, or personal preferences. This flexibility ensures that therapy can continue without disruption, even during busy times or unexpected changes.

        Accessibility:

    • For clients who live in remote areas, have mobility challenges, or face time constraints, hybrid therapy provides access to therapy when in-person sessions may not be feasible. It also helps clients maintain consistency in their treatment despite travel or health-related issues.

        Comfort and Privacy:

    • Some clients feel more comfortable attending therapy from the privacy of their own home, which can promote openness and reduce anxiety. Virtual sessions also allow for a level of convenience that can make therapy feel more integrated into daily life.

        Consistency of Care:

    • Hybrid therapy helps maintain continuity of care, ensuring that clients can continue their sessions regardless of external factors like travel, work schedules, or personal emergencies. It provides a seamless way to keep up with therapy even if circumstances change.

        Personalized Approach:

    • With the option to choose between in-person and virtual sessions, hybrid therapy can be tailored to the client’s needs and preferences. This can enhance the therapeutic experience and make clients feel more in control of their treatment.

Half and Extended Sessions

We understand that everyone’s needs are different, which is why we offer flexible session lengths to suit your schedule and therapeutic goals. Whether you need a quick check-in or a deeper, more focused conversation, you can choose between half sessions and extended sessions based on your unique needs

  •
        Half Sessions (25 minutes
Our half sessions are ideal for clients who need brief, focused support or have a tight schedule.

These shorter sessions can be great for:
    • Quick check-ins to address immediate concerns or specific issues.
    • Maintenance sessions for ongoing support, when more time isn’t needed but you still want consistent care.
    • Focused conversations around specific topics or goals.
    • Frequent check-ins: Allows for more regular support on smaller, specific issues.
    • More affordable: A shorter session at a reduced rate for those on a budget or with limited time.

Extended Sessions (90 Minutes or More):
Extended sessions provide more in-depth time to explore complex issues, allowing for deeper reflection and work.

      These sessions are perfect for:
    • Exploring deeper topics that require more time, such as trauma, relationships, or personal growth.
    • Working through complex emotions or challenging situations that may need more than the typical session length.
    • Therapeutic work that benefits from additional time, such as skill-building, exercises, or processing difficult emotions.

Whether you need a brief, focused session or extended time for deeper exploration, we offer flexible options to fit your needs and ensure you get the most out of your therapy experience.
