FAQ
In therapy, you can expect a comfortable, confidential space to talk about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Depending on your needs, we may focus on specific issues, explore past experiences, or develop coping strategies for current challenges. Each session is a step toward better understanding and emotional well-being.
Our standard fee for individual counselling is $150 per counselling hour (50 mins), and for relationship sessions (2+ people) is $175 per counselling hour. We also offer half and extended sessions upon request.
For more accessible counselling options, we offer equity pricing to a limited number of clients.
What is equity pricing?
-
Equity pricing is a reduced fee for individuals who face barriers to accessing counselling, starting at $120 per counselling hour, on a sliding scale. This includes individuals with financial limitations (e.g. low income, limited insurance coverage, other financial hardships) or equity-deserving identities (e.g. racialized, queer, trans, disabled, etc.). This is something we discuss individually and is specific to each counsellor, with limited spots. If you are First Nations or Inuit, you may be eligible for free counselling with approved providers through the Non-Insured Health Benefits program. We know that counselling can be expensive, and is unfortunately not typically covered by Ontario's Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). If cost or marginalization is a barrier to seeking counselling, then our equity pricing may be an option for you. Contact Us to ask about availability and learn more.

The length of therapy varies depending on your individual goals and needs. Some clients may feel improvement after just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We’ll work together to determine the best approach for you, and we can revisit your progress regularly to ensure the therapy is effective.
Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially at the beginning of therapy, to build a solid foundation. Over time, we may adjust the frequency to bi-weekly or monthly, depending on your progress and needs. We’ll discuss what feels best for you and your goals.
Yes, everything you share in therapy is confidential. We adhere to strict ethical guidelines to protect your privacy. There are some exceptions, such as when there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if we are required by law to disclose information (e.g., suspected abuse). We will discuss confidentiality in detail at the start of therapy
We currently offer direct billing to a select number of insurance providers. Please email our office to inquire if your provider is on our list. We can provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, but we suggest checking with your insurance company to confirm coverage details and any co-pays or deductibles prior to scheduling your first appointment.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee. Life happens, and we understand that unexpected things come up. If you miss a session without prior notice, we may discuss how to handle cancellations going forward to ensure continuity of care.
Please refer to our Compassionate Cancellation Policy for more information.
Therapy can be beneficial if you're struggling with emotional, mental, or relational issues. If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want to improve your well-being, therapy can help. You don’t need to have a “diagnosis” to seek therapy, and it’s okay to start therapy without knowing exactly what you need.
The therapeutic relationship is important for successful treatment, and it’s okay to feel that you’re not connecting. If that happens, we can discuss it, and we can help you find another therapist who may be a better fit for your needs. Your comfort is key to your progress in therapy.
Therapy can help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, and more. If you’re unsure if therapy can help, we encourage you to reach out, and we can discuss your specific concerns.
In some therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), you may be given assignments or "homework" to practice between sessions. These exercises are meant to help reinforce the skills and strategies you’re learning in therapy. If this approach resonates with you, we’ll discuss it together. All of our therapists use an integrative approach and draw from a range of modalities. We believe in using modalities that make sense for our clients, rather than have clients fit a specific modality.
Progress in therapy can look different for everyone, and sometimes it takes time. If you’re feeling stuck or like things aren’t moving forward, we can discuss it openly. We’ll assess together whether any changes are needed in our approach, goals, or the frequency of sessions.
Yes, we offer online and phone sessions for convenience, flexibility, and accessibility. These allow you to receive support from the comfort of your home or anywhere you feel safe. We use a secure platform to ensure your privacy during sessions and can talk through any challenges that may arise for you so that your session works for you!

The Clarity office resides on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee (including the Six Nations), Anishnawbe (including the Missisaugas of the Credit First Nation), and Attawandaron Peoples, on the Haldimand Tract. The Haldimand Tract comprises six miles on either side of the Grand River from end-to-end, on land ceded by the Missisaugas of the Credit to the British Crown.
The Crown granted the Haldimand Tract to the Six Nations (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora) in recognition of their land that was lost in the American War of Independence and in gratitude for their alliance with the Crown. Of the 950,000 hectares granted, less than 5% of that remains with these nations now. The Attawandaron Peoples no longer exists as a modern nation today due to colonization and genocide.
At Clarity, we are committed to decolonizing our practice, incorporating anti-racist and anti-oppressive principles, and continuing our education about the lands we inhabit, its caretakers, and our roles in reconciliation.
